Time Canada vs Qatar, TV channels, live stream, line-ups and betting odds for friendlies ahead of the World Cup

Canada shocked the CONCACAF region with the best record in regional World Cup qualifying and reaching the country’s first men’s World Cup since 1986. Now coach John Herdman is hoping to draw even more attention at the 2022 FIFA World Cup , as his roster approaches the showcase event.

Les Rouges will play two international friendlies at neutral venues in Europe in September against other World Cup opponents. On Friday they meet the World Cup hosts Qatar and on Tuesday they meet Uruguay.

The game in Qatar presents a unique test. While not considered one of the favorites to climb out of World Cup Group A, the Maroon are an incredibly strong and experienced side with an established style of play that is en route to reaching the K .-o. round could cause a surprise or two in their own country.

Herdman will aim to do the same for his Canada side, who will face tougher opponents on paper in Group F. The challenge for Les Rouges is compounded by the fact that this will be their first opponent outside of the North American region since their World Cup qualifying journey began in 2018.

Canada vs Qatar lineups

Given that many spots on Canada’s final World Cup squad shouldn’t be too exciting, Herdman will likely use those two September friendlies to build chemistry and tactical understanding. The star players in the Canada squad, such as Alfonso Davies and JonathanDavidshould see plenty of playtime.

The few decisions that Herdman has to make are mostly in the background. defender Derek Cornelius and Joel Wassermanwho joins the team for the first time in 2022, are fighting for places in the roster.

injured players Doneil Heinrich (Toronto F.C.), Atiba Hutchinson (Beşiktaş JK) and David Wotherspoon (St. Johnstone FC) are unavailable for both September games.

Canada expected starting line-up (4-3-3): Borjan (GK) – Waterman, Vitoria, Miller – Laryea, Eustaquio, Kaye, Davies – Buchanan, Larin, David

While Qatar are unlikely to threaten to win the World Cup, the squad could cause problems in a weak Group A.

Eight players in the current international friendlies squad have over 75 caps and three have over 100, including the 31-year-old captain Hassan Al-Haydos who has amassed an incredible 163 international appearances, putting him 19th all-time. Since last autumn, however, he is no longer part of the squad and now wants to reintegrate.

Almoez Alithe country’s top active goalscorer with 38 goals, is approaching 75 appearances and is currently at 72. He is in great club form at Al-Duhail, with four goals and two assists in the first eight games of the season in all league games and cup game.

Qatar predicted starting line-up (3-5-2): Zakariah (GK) – Miguel, Al-Rawi, Waad – Hassan, Afif, Hatem, Asad, Al-Haydos – Ali, Alaaeldin.

Canada vs Qatar best bet prediction

Odds on Caesars (USA) & Sports Interaction (Canada).

Canada are ranked 43rd in the world, five places better than Qatar and they are favorites in this game.

However, the friendly game should be a real challenge for Les Rouges. Qatar have given their senior team plenty of international experience in the run-up to the 2022 World Cup in recent years, significantly more so than Canada. That included taking part in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup, where they faced Canada with a place in the semi-finals.

Oddsmakers believe this game could be a low-goal affair, but it’s not a bad rap to think that both attacking-minded teams could find the back of the net in this game. Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David should both play for Canada and could pose problems for Qatar, while Les Rouges’ defensive line will also be in test mode.
