Starting blocks installed by Adams Construction at Civic Center PoolOzark Radio News
West Plains, MO. – Adams Construction installed six Spectrum Xcellerator starting blocks in the indoor pool at the West Plains Civic Center. The blocks were purchased by Waves Swim Club, a 501(c)3 organization, thanks to the generous support of our local sponsors over the past three years. This project cost just over $27,000. Adams Construction generously donated their time, equipment and labor to install the blocks for FREE.
“We thank the City of West Plains and MSU-WP for their efforts in making this possible for our children and the community! There were many hours of work behind the scenes.” Head Coach Kristi Sheridan commented, “I’m honored by the generosity of our community and support of youth sports!”

Starting blocks were needed to practice starts regularly. Our athletes were severely disadvantaged without blocks when competing against other swim teams that do daily training starts. Waves Swim Club selected high quality blocks for this project which will last for many years. Swim teams Waves and Zizzers can now host swim meetings in West Plains instead of always traveling to competitions. The Zizzer Boys Swim Team held their first-ever indoor swim meet on September 22, 2022 at the Civic Center.
