Brandon Nakashima vs. Daniel Galan head to head

They’ve played before, and it happened at Wimbledon this year. Nakashima won in straight sets.

Nakashima Cruise in San Diego

Brandon Nakashima is back in strong tennis as the American does really well on home soil. It’s hardly a surprise, most Americans do exceptionally well on home soil and he’s no different. The chance of reaching the semifinals is a big one for Nakashima as he takes on a player he is likely to beat.

Yes, Galan is a solid player, but not a player Nakashima should fear, especially on the hard courts of North America. The American is 29-22 a year but only 13-12 on hard courts and that could certainly improve. He didn’t have the best US Open, but he also faced Jannik Sinner.

Nakashima needs deep runs to regain some of the lost confidence and a deep run here would do wonders for him. Not only would it put him in the top 50, but it would set him up well for next year as it’s a crucial year. The youngster is hoping to establish himself and lackluster draws like this are the right moment for that.

Galan’s excellent season continues

Danie Galan had a bad year last year and he saw his rankings drop quite a bit. He wasn’t a top 100 player in the world and that was a problem. To counteract that, he’s played amazing tennis this year, posting a 48-23 record so far and returning to the top 100.

Most of his wins have come on clay, which is his best surface, but he also does well on hard courts. Two wins this week certainly prove it, and they were against tricky players. He has a powerful serve and precise groundstrokes, although not much power.

Nakashima is a tough matchup for him, but he will do his best with a semi-final at stake. Opportunities like this don’t come often for him, so he must seize this opportunity. If he plays hard he will have more chances than his Wimbledon defeat gave.

Nakashima v Galan prediction and tip

So her only match that year was at Wimbledon and Nakashima easily won that match in straight sets. This is literally Galan’s worst interface, so it’s hardly a surprise.

Despite being better on hard courts, it’s highly unlikely he can do much better against Nakashima. I expect the American to win, but probably in straight sets.
