France vs Austria UEFA Nations League time, TV channels, live stream, line-ups and betting odds

France will be eyeing the FIFA World Cup as they face Austria in the UEFA Nations League and they could definitely use the game to get back on track after a string of poor results.

Somehow, Les Bleus are threatened with relegation to League B of the UEFA Nations League, who are currently without a win in their first four group stage games. They only have two points, with draws against Croatia and Austria, plus losses against Denmark and Croatia.

As a result, bottom of Group A, they have already been eliminated from the final and need points from these last two games to avoid slipping into the second division.

Good form in those final two games before the 2022 World Cup will be crucial as coach Didier Deschamps hopes to help his team gain momentum ahead of their World Cup title defense in Qatar, where they are still considered one of the favourites come.

They will have to do so without star midfielders Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante, both of whom are injured for this international break, with the former’s health being a real concern for the upcoming World Cup. Karim Benzema is also missing due to injury, a blow to the attack, which is now prominently occupied by superstar Kylian Mbappe.

France vs Austria lineups, team news

France lacks both Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante injured in midfield, with Pogba’s status for the World Cup seriously questioned. This leaves the duo Real Madrid Aurelien Tshouameni and Eduardo Camavinga as likely starters, with Matteo Guendouzi also pushing for a place.

In front, Kylian Mbappe is a fixed point of the French attack and a mixture of Ousmane Dembele, Anton Griezmann, Oliver Giroudand Christopher Nunku next to him to choose from. Star Striker Karim Benzema absent due to injury.

in defense, Presnel Kimpembe will pause with a knock and leave Raphael Varane and in-form Arsenal defender Wilhelm Saliba as a likely center-back pairing. Hugo Lloris was left out of the squad, which means Mike Maignan should start in the gate.

Estimated starting line-up for France (4-3-3): Maignan (GK) – Pavard, Saliba, Varane, Mendy – Camavinga, Tchouameni, Guendouzi – Dembele, Mbappe, Nkunku.

Real Madrid’s David Alaba Captain of the Austrians, who are also fighting for survival in League A. Austria didn’t qualify for the 2022 World Cup, so there will be no experiments from head coach Ralf Rangnick.

It’s a question of being an established veteran Heinz Lindner or young upstart Patrick Pentz Start in goal with everyone getting a shot into the last international window.

Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has made a place for himself at the German club and should therefore be a no-brainer in the Austrian midfield.

Austria expected starting line-up (4-4-2): Pentz (GK) — Lainer, Trauner, Alaba, Wober — Schlager, Laimer, Sabitzer, Seiwald — Weimann, Arnautovic.

Odds on Caesars (USA), Sports Interaction (Canada) and SkyBet (UK).

Despite poor form in the UEFA Nations League and key injuries, France are still considered contenders for December’s FIFA World Cup and are therefore heavily favored to win that game.

However, without Pogba and Kante, this French team is clearly weakened. Eduardo Camavinga in particular has yet to prove at international level that he can last a full 90 minutes. The loss of Benzema is also difficult for France to cope with, as Antoine Grizemann has seen only sporadic club minutes at Atletico Madrid and Christopher Nkunku is still green at international level.

These factors could see Austria put up a real fight with France and even if they don’t get a result in the end they should be able to find the back of the net and put pressure on Les Bleus.
