They played twice and Evans won both games.

Evans looks strong

Dan Evans looked very solid for Britain in Davis Cup last week and he continued to play well this week. A long trip across the pond to San Diego didn’t bother the Brit, who won’t be dropping a set in San Diego this week. Wins over Tallon Griekspoor and Daniel Taro were pretty solid.

It should do him good because he has a very good chance of reaching the semi-finals against a player who isn’t as high-ranked as he is. It won’t be easy, but Evans has all the tools to win this match and secure the semifinals. A deep run would do him good ahead of the indoor season.

It’s been a long time since her previous games, but Evans has won both. The last came in 2019 and it was a 3-set win for the Brit.

It’s been a solid year overall for him with a 28-21 record and he’d like to add the number 29 against Lestienne.

Surprise run by Lestienne

Constant Lestienne started outside the top 200 this year so it’s a bit surprising that he might reach a semi-final at an ATP 250 event. He worked his way up to this position having been in the top 100 for a while and it was just a great transformation from him.

He’s 45-21 that year, plays really strong tennis and doesn’t lose confidence. Even when presented with difficulty, Lestienne just keeps going and it works. His best surface by far this year has been hard courts as he is 25-5 on surface.

He’s certainly a threat to Evans as he believes in himself and plays well. He’s got the guns to hurt Evans, but the Brit has his own bag of tricks.

It should be a very competitive and good match, probably a three set game with either player able to win. Lestienne will certainly not back down.

Evans v Lestienne prediction and tip

Your H2H matchup is useful, but not this match. Evans may be 2-0 up, but Lestienne has been a much better player this year. It’s a brilliant transformation and I think he’ll push Evans forward on this one.

Any combination of an over should be the first choice here as it’s not really worth betting on Evans at these odds. I take care of this.
